What is Flambient?
Most real estate photos are shot one of two ways - natural light only, or straight flash, yet both have serious drawbacks.
Natural light looks soft and inviting, but it's unpredictable. Windows blow out, shadows appear muddy, and colors shift depending on the weather and time of day. Although flash can fix the exposure problems, it looks harsh and artificial - flat, shadowless, and nothing like the way the space actually feels.
Alternatively, Flambient photography combines the best of both worlds. The technique blends flash-exposed images with one ambient light exposure of the same scene, which I then carefully merge in post-processing. The result is a photo that's properly exposed, color-correct, and naturally lit - windows retain details, rooms feel warm and inviting, and colors present the way they actually look when you're standing in the space.
The technique requires a high level of expertise - both in the house and in the edit - which is why most photographers don’t shoot Flambient. But the difference shows up immediately in how the photos look on screen, and ultimately in how the listing performs online.
